OpenAI’s business tools have hit a major growth spurt this year. The company just announced that ChatGPT Enterprise and Team versions now have over 3 million users across 600,000 organizations.

This rapid adoption shows how AI is changing how we work. The numbers have doubled in just six months, according to OpenAI’s business chief Mira Murati.

“Companies are finding real value in their AI investments,” Murati said during the announcement. “They’re seeing productivity gains across all departments.”

The growth comes as OpenAI rolls out new workplace features. Users can now create custom AI assistants without coding skills. These assistants can handle specific company tasks like customer service or data analysis.

A new document understanding tool lets ChatGPT process longer materials. It can now summarize lengthy reports or extract key information from complex documents.

Financial services firm Morgan Stanley was an early adopter. “Our advisors save hours each week using AI to research investment options,” said Robert Wilson, their technology director.

Healthcare companies are using these tools to speed up administrative work. Education institutions use them to create personalized learning materials.

Security remains a top concern for business users. OpenAI has added enhanced encryption and admin controls to protect sensitive company data.

“The privacy features convinced us to adopt enterprise-wide,” said Sarah Chen, CTO at Pacific Northwest Hospital. “Our staff can safely use AI while protecting patient information.”

Small businesses benefit too. The Team version costs less but includes many enterprise features. This helps smaller companies compete with larger corporations.

OpenAI faces growing competition from rivals like Anthropic and Google. Both companies have launched similar business AI products this year.

Tech analyst Maria Rodriguez believes we’re just seeing the beginning. “These tools will become as essential as email within two years,” she predicted.

The business AI market will likely reach $150 billion by 2026, according to research firm Gartner. OpenAI’s early lead gives them an advantage.

For now, companies are still figuring out the best ways to use these tools. Some focus on automating routine tasks. Others use AI for creative work like marketing content.

As these tools improve, they’ll handle more complex jobs. This raises questions about how work roles might change in the coming years.

Will AI replace certain jobs or just change how we work? The answer isn’t clear yet. But what’s certain is that AI in the workplace is here to stay.
